Here Aware began with a simple habit: going slowly and paying attention.

I grew up in the Philippines, where community was something you built with your hands — organising fundraisers for children, supporting typhoon relief, gathering people around a shared belief that ordinary people, together, can do something meaningful.

I trained as a nurse — not because healing was an obligation, but because caring for people has always felt like a calling. The career path changed; the calling didn't. Years later, when I discovered Reiki, something clicked. People had always told me I had a gift with my hands. Reiki gave that gift a language and a lineage.

In Barcelona, the community instinct looked like convincing friends to go on skateboarding trips. Then came birdwatching — and with it, a quiet revelation: that the quality of attention needed to find a bird in a tree is almost identical to the quality of attention cultivated in meditation. Stillness. Listening before looking. Noticing without grasping.

Here Aware was born from that connection. It is a registered independent practice, built with care alongside a full-time career — not a hobby, but a calling that simply couldn't wait for the right moment.

It all starts with being here, aware.

Hi, I’m Joyce.

My Approach

Here Aware is not about achieving a special state of calm or improving yourself.

Instead, it offers a simple invitation: slow down and notice.

Nature provides an extraordinary environment for this practice. Birds, landscapes, and natural soundscapes naturally invite the kind of attention cultivated in mindfulness meditation.

By walking slowly, listening deeply, and observing with curiosity, participants begin to rediscover presence in a very direct way.

Key Principles

Gentle attention

The practices are simple and accessible. There is no pressure to perform or meditate in a particular way - only an invitation to observe what is already present.

Curiosity about the natural world

Birds, landscapes, sound, and small details of the environment become anchors for attention and awareness.

Shared practice

Many people practice mindfulness alone. Here Aware creates spaces where people can explore attention together through quiet walks, listening, and observation.
